Having marketed for Samsung and sold for Apple, John Finneran understands how top technology companies operate. What you should learn from them and what you shouldn’t. He applies this expertise to help emerging technology firms go-to-market, scale sales, and productize professional services.
On go-to-market, he helps firms position, message, and achieve their first sale. Post product-market fit, he helps scale sales by creating world-class pitches, presentations, proposals, and playbooks. And to help software product companies protect margin and preserve valuation, he designs professional services that are templated and repeatable.
John embraces opportunities to discover, communicate, and create business value from hard-to-explain, complex technologies. This is where differentiation often hides. Most recently, he has worked with machine learning and decentralized computing companies.
Also, John is a skilled technology writer. He wrote 32 FinTech articles for The Motley Fool and authored The Business Case Checklist. And he wrote The Fat Startup article (read by 33,000 people) about his own founder-funded startup.
More maker than manager, John prefers the spirit and simplicity of small companies. He has extensive entrepreneurial experience. John worked in product marketing for several software startups. He also led business development for a private equity firm, created by the founders of Genesys Labs — the leading contact center software company.
Finally, John is an Oxford University Law graduate. He has completed the Chartered Financial Analyst ("CFA") and U.K. Member of Corporate Treasurers examinations. John has lived in Hong Kong, London, and New York but now he calls New Jersey home.
